How to optimize skin recovery and glow after a thulium laser?

Lasers are the gold standard to resurface skin and reveal a radiant complexion. Yet, these procedures leave a stressed skin.

The HELENA RUBINSTEIN CELLULAR SKIN SCIENCE™ is an avant-garde expertise recognizing that skin youthfulness begins at cellular level with an advanced approach that targets key biological pathways to actively drive cellular repair, cellular inter-communication, and cellular reprogramming.

“To enrich this fundamental scientific knowledge of cellular communication, a collaboration was established with Dr. Hong, MD and Director of Clinique hus,hu in Seoul. This scientific collaboration inspired a medical grade disruptive study combining non-ablative lasers with Skinmunity [EXO] Serum.” – Dr. Audrey Gueniche, Helena Rubinstein Global Scientific Director.

How does fractional laser act on the skin?

Environmental & internal stressors alter skin texture, by slowing cellular turnover, and deplete structural proteins to cause wrinkles and lackluster skin.

To reverse this decline, traditional non-ablative fractional lasers deliver targeted light energy into the deep epidermis and papillary dermis. By creating microscopic treatment zones while preserving the skin surface, this thermal stimulation prompts fibroblasts to synthesize fresh collagen [1]. Consequently, skin fine lines are smoothed, contours appear firmer;

“The Thulium laser can specifically target the dermo-epidermal junction (the boundary where the outer epidermis meets the deeper dermis) thanks to its high affinity for water. This is exactly where micro-texture issues, and early signs of damage reside. A few days after the treatment, the skin develops tiny, sand-like, dark specks called MENDs. These are microscopic packets containing old, damaged cells and fragmented melanin that have been pushed to the surface by the body's natural cellular renewal process. As these microscopic specks naturally flake off over 5 to 7 days, they carry away years of accumulated dullness, and rough skin cells. By making the skin surface highly uniform, it allows light to reflect directly off the face (specular reflection), creating a polished, glossy sheen—often compared to "glass skin.", Dr. Hong, MD and Director of Clinique hus,hu.

Understanding temporary skin fatigue after a laser

The glowing, rejuvenated skin that results from a 1927nm Thulium laser treatment is actually the direct consequence of a deliberate, highly controlled, temporary state of cellular stress. Inside the treated zones the laser energy rapidly heats the water inside the cells causing damage and triggering an immediate transient inflammatory response. Because the surrounding skin cells are completely untouched and healthy, they are not stressed. They act as a biological "rescue team" to quickly repair the micro-injured zones.

To overcome post-procedure cellular stress, Helena Rubinstein’s Powercell Skinmunity [EXO] Serum acts as a high-performance complement. Powered by [EXO]SAM™ technology, this exosome skincare delivers over 1 billion [EXO] Samphires, plant-derived exosomes that restore vital intercellular communication.Know more here

How to support laser recovery

To validate this biological synergy, Clinical test was performed from the scientific collaboration between Helena Rubinstein and Dr. Hong. The test evaluated 11 women aged from 19 to 55 years old undergoing a non-ablative 1927nm fractional laser procedure. It was followed by the hemi-face randomized application of the exosome skincare versus a neutral cream.

While the laser alone delivers excellent resurfacing results, incorporating the serum significantly amplifies the outcomes and reduce side effects’ last [2]:

  • Accelerated Recovery: By Day 3, the protocol achieved a significantly greater reduction in crust count compared to the control, promoting faster skin surface re-epithelialization.

  • Immediate & Sustained Soothing: The serum lowered peak redness on Day 2 and led to a significantly faster return to baseline by Day 7, consistently suppressing redness.

Leveraging 15 years of pre- and post-procedure expertise, Helena Rubinstein demonstrates that treating skin concerns at their core is key to complementing aesthetic procedures. While fractional lasers independently deliver remarkable rejuvenation, pairing them with Powercell Skinmunity [EXO] Serum elevates the entire experience. By securing clinical outcomes, minimizing discomfort, and accelerating recovery, this advanced formula enhances and prolongs aesthetic results, reaffirming its role as the ultimate ally to optimize procedures, from lasers to Skinboosters.
